Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has publicly supported his colleague Jerry Williams amid the latter’s ongoing battle with drug issues.
On his Instagram page, Edochie praised Williams as “The Pride of Africa” and assured him that no one can take away his crown. He sent well-wishes to the actor, encouraging him to return stronger and praying for divine guidance.
Edochie’s Instagram message read:
“The Pride of Africa.
JayWillz!

@officialjerrywilliams
Nobody can take your crown, bro.
Come back stronger.
May God be with you always.”
In June 2023, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) announced the indefinite suspension of Jerry Williams due to his involvement with drugs. The guild had been monitoring his situation since December, which they claimed worsened despite previous minor treatments. The AGN president stated that Williams had become a risk not only to himself but also to other actors on set, prompting the suspension.
By July, Williams had heeded calls for help and entered rehab. He is reportedly undergoing intensive therapy at an undisclosed rehabilitation center. His colleagues had previously advised him to quit drug abuse, and he has since begun taking the necessary steps toward recovery.
