First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has disbursed N50 million to 1,000 petty traders in Kebbi State as part of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) economic empowerment program. The distribution, which took place in Birnin Kebbi, aimed to provide each trader with N50,000 to help expand and strengthen their businesses.
Represented by Hajiya Zainab Nasir Idris, the Wife of the Kebbi State Governor, and Hajiya Maryam Umar Abubakar, the Wife of the Deputy Governor, Senator Tinubu emphasized the importance of the grant in driving economic growth and improving the lives of the beneficiaries’ families. The initiative is being executed simultaneously across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, with a total of N1.850 billion to be distributed to 37,000 women nationwide.
Senator Tinubu highlighted the crucial role of women in the local economy and praised their resilience in the face of numerous challenges. She noted that the economic empowerment of women is not only morally imperative but also a strategic move to bolster the national economy.
Kebbi State officials, including the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed, and the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Hamidu Jarkuka, commended the First Lady for her initiative and encouraged the beneficiaries to use the funds wisely to grow their businesses and contribute to the nation’s prosperity.
