Obi Aguocha, a Labour Party (LP) member of the House of Representatives representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency in Abia State, has confidently stated that Governor Alex Otti will be re-elected in 2027 due to his significant developmental achievements. Aguocha’s remarks were in response to Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, who suggested that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will produce the next governor of Abia State to acknowledge President Bola Tinubu’s efforts, such as the signing of the South East Development Commission (SEDC) Bill.
Aguocha criticized Kalu for expressing interest in the 2027 governorship while simultaneously pledging loyalty to Governor Otti. He emphasized that there will be no vacancy in the Abia State Government House in 2027, as Otti’s leadership is highly valued by the people of Abia. Aguocha also urged Kalu to focus on using his position as deputy speaker to address the needs of the South East and promote inclusiveness rather than advancing his political ambitions.
