FG Reaffirms Dedication to Tackling Certificate Fraud

-

On Monday, the Federal Government reaffirmed its dedication to tackling certification fraud across educational institutions in neighboring countries to preserve the integrity of Nigerian educational certificates on the global stage.

Additionally, the government is taking steps to refine the student scholarship process, ensuring that deserving students receive the support they need for their education.

Minister of State for Education, Tanko Sununu, made these assurances during a key meeting with the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students Diaspora, headed by President Juwon Chris, a Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering student at RMIT University, Australia.

According to a statement from Liaison Officer Opeoluwa Ojekemi of the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Students’ Engagement, Sununu addressed the students’ concerns by outlining the government’s current initiatives to tackle these issues.

“The Federal Government, under President Bola Tinubu, is actively working to combat certification fraud in neighboring countries to uphold the credibility of Nigerian educational qualifications globally,” Sununu said.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by Nigerian students in securing and maintaining international scholarships, a crucial aspect of their educational and career prospects.

Sununu also expressed concern over the high incidence of certification fraud in neighboring countries, particularly Benin Republic and Togo.

Opeoluwa Ojekemi emphasized the government’s commitment to maintaining transparent and open communication with Nigerian students abroad and their representatives.

“Engaging in continuous dialogue is crucial to addressing the challenges faced by Nigerian students overseas and ensuring their academic and professional success,” Ojekemi noted.

“This meeting represents a significant advancement in our efforts to support Nigerian students globally, highlighting the government’s dedication to their well-being and future achievements,” he added.
