Zacheaus Dare, the Caretaker Chairman of the Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area in Kogi State, who was abducted by gunmen on Friday night, has regained his freedom.
Earlier reports indicated that Dare was kidnapped alongside his aides on the Kabba/Okene Road. The state Police Public Relations Officer, William Aya, confirmed the abduction on Saturday morning, stating that it occurred in the Kabba area.
In an update, Aya revealed that Dare managed to escape from his captors, while his aides were taken to an unknown location by the abductors. “The kidnappers did not succeed in their bid to get hold of the chairman, but his aides were not that lucky as they were whisked away,” Aya said.
Later, the Owe Political Forum issued a statement confirming Dare’s release by his abductors. “We are pleased to share that the CTC Chairman, who was abducted by unknown assailants on the Kabba-Okene Expressway on August 2, 2024, has been safely released,” the statement read.
The forum expressed gratitude for Dare’s safe return and thanked everyone for their prayers and support. They also acknowledged the efforts of the security forces in ensuring his release and continued to pray for the swift and safe return of his aides.
