Chief Grace Atinuke Oyelude, the inaugural Miss Nigeria, celebrated her 93rd birthday, marking a significant milestone for the trailblazing beauty queen.
Securing the Miss Nigeria title in 1957, Chief Grace Atinuke made history as the first woman to hold this prestigious crown. Hailing from Northern Nigeria, she was selected based on a photo submitted by her brother to the pageant organizers, Daily Times.
Following her victory, Grace Atinuke utilized the £200 cash prize to embark on a journey to England, where she enrolled in Nursing School. She eventually became a qualified nurse and earned the titles Iyaolu of Isaluland and Iyalode of Okunland.
In 2015, the Miss Nigeria organization honored her with a Peugeot, and they have consistently celebrated her birthday. This year, they expressed their immense delight on Instagram:
