In a significant escalation of the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests, the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was attacked. The attackers, believed to be protesters, vandalized the premises, including a large billboard, signpost, and party flags.
The incident occurred on Monday night when the hoodlums breached the entrance gate before being repelled by security personnel stationed at the secretariat. Tony Okocha, the state APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, condemned the act during a news briefing on Tuesday, claiming it was a politically motivated attack by those threatened by the party’s growing influence in the state.
Okocha asserted that the attack was intended to target President Bola Tinubu and elevate Rivers State as the focal point of the protests. He emphasized the resilience of the APC in continuing to advocate for the people of Rivers State despite such attacks.
Okocha revealed that the assailants left a note indicating their intention to return, and he called for enhanced security measures around the secretariat. He urged the Rivers State Police Command to ensure the safety of the APC members and the premises to prevent future incidents.
