The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has mourned the death of Senior Correctional Assistant (SCA) Shuaibu King David, who was killed while preventing inmates from escaping during Monday’s jailbreak at the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Koton Karfe, Kogi State.
In a statement on Tuesday, NCoS spokesperson DCC Abubakar Umar praised David’s bravery and dedication to national security. Five of the 12 escaped inmates were swiftly recaptured on Monday.
The Acting Controller-General of Corrections, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, extended condolences to David’s family and colleagues, vowing that his sacrifice would always be honored.
NCoS is working with security agencies to track down the remaining escapees while strengthening security measures in custodial centers nationwide.
