Mina Horsfall, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, has lauded Governor Siminalayi Fubara for the peaceful conduct of the local government elections held on October 5, 2024. In a congratulatory message obtained by our correspondent in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Horsfall referred to Fubara as “a man of action who talks less.”
She highlighted the election as the most peaceful in Rivers’ history, praising the governor for fulfilling his commitment to prioritize the state’s interests. Horsfall also congratulated the newly elected Mayor of Port Harcourt, Ichemati Ezebunwo, and other chairmen, including the successful female candidates and those who won councillorship seats across various parties.
Horsfall remarked, “Fubara’s achievement has earned her accolades as ‘The People’s Servant’ and ‘The Liberator.’” She noted the remarkable success of the Action Peoples Party (APP), which won 22 out of 23 local government areas, a feat attributed to Fubara’s indirect support and signaling a shift in the political landscape of Rivers State.
She commended Adolphus Enebeli, the chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, for overseeing an election deemed smooth, safe, and free of violence. As results for the Etche Local Government Area were still pending at press time, Horsfall characterized the election as credible and transparent, describing the newly elected leaders as a “breath of fresh air” for the state.
Horsfall wished the new leaders a successful tenure, emphasizing the importance of their roles in moving Rivers State forward.
