In the lead-up to the Edo State governorship election, the PDP and APC have once again engaged in a heated exchange of accusations. The Edo PDP accused security agencies of indiscriminately arresting its chieftains, allegedly to favor the APC. The party also claimed that APC agents were manufacturing masks and police uniforms for thugs to disrupt voting in areas where they are unpopular.
The APC responded, dismissing the allegations as “hallucinations” by Governor Godwin Obaseki and the PDP, while accusing the PDP of inciting violence and refusing to sign a peace accord. Both parties continue to accuse each other of foul play as the election approaches.
