1.The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 176 new cases of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) infections in the country.According to the agency, the new infection takes the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 57,437.The NCDC said that the most common signs and symptoms reported by COVID-19 patients in Nigeria were cough and fever.The agency said that a properly worn face mask acts as a protective barrier to prevent the spread of COVID-19.“Remember, a face mask is a personal item and must not be shared,” it said.
2. President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday night urged the international community to take strong action against illicit flows of small arms and light weapons.Addressing the virtual United Nations General Assembly through a pre-recorded video statement, Buhari said Nigeria was deeply concerned over the menace.The president also reminded the world of the “litany of terrorist attacks across the globe”, saying it is a “harsh reality of the challenges the world is facing today”.He emphasised that the problem could only be solved through international collaboration and solidarity.Buhari decried the lack of global solidarity in the battle, urging the UN to “marshal an inclusive response to the pandemic”.
3. The Nigerian High Commission in Canada says it will resume in-person immigration and consular services on Thursday.This is coming six months after it shut its doors in compliance with the host country’s guidelines for the prevention of the spread of the novel coronavirus. It has been issuing Emergency Travel Certificates (ETC) and visas to applicants needing urgent travels, via email.
4.)President Muhammadu Buhari has described the death of two Borno Emirs as a “rare double tragedy” and a painful loss to the people of Nigeia. Buhari in a condolence letter he sent to Gov. Babagana Zulum and the people of Borno, commended the roles played by the late Shehu of Bama, Umar El-Kanemi and the Emir of Biu Mustapha Aliyu in maintaining peace and stability in their respective emirates, especially in the wake of violence caused by the Boko Haram insurgents.

The Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO) has advised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to consolidate on gains of Edo governorship election ahead of the forthcoming Ondo pols.According to Ezekwueme, the commission needed to understudy areas it performed below average in the just-concluded election and brace-up on them.“I appeal to INEC to consolidate on success recorded on Edo governorship election the fast approaching Ondo governorship election and next year’s Anambra polls.
6. Zamfara Government says it has alerted security agencies to track the whereabouts of over N37 billion refunds on Federal Government projects executed by the state.Alhaji Rabiu Garba, the state Commissioner of Finance, announced this while addressing journalists in Gusau on Tuesday.The commissioner said the amount was initially quoted at over N47 billion as the funds used by the former administration in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of 14 federal roads in the state.

9.)The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commiserated with the former governor of Ekiti, Ayodele Fayose, over the death of his sister, Madam Moji Ladeji.In a statement issued by PDP National Publicity secretary to commiserate with Fayose and the Ladeji family, the party said: “our thoughts and prayers go out to them at this moment of grief.“Our party commiserates with the Fayose and Ladeji families and pray God to grant them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.’’
10.Sen. Istifanus Gyang (PDP- Plateau) has described the assassination of a traditional ruler in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau state, Bulus Janka by assailants as inhuman, barbaric and devilish.The traditional ruler was said to be killed on Monday night at his residence at Rasat, Foron District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau.
He commiserated with the immediate family of the late royal father and entire of Plateau people. Sen. Gyang prayed God to grant the royal father eternal rest.
