Abuja – Senate President Godswill Akpabio has distanced himself from a rally purportedly organized in his support by a group known as the Progressive Peoples’ Resolution (PPR). The rally, scheduled for April 4, 2025, in Akwa Ibom, is led by one Ubong Idemudo, whom Akpabio described as a “controversial character.”
In a statement signed on Thursday by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, Akpabio called on security agencies to prevent the event from taking place, labeling it a “satanic rally” that did not have his approval.
“The President of the Senate is not aware of any rally organized in his support at any venue in Akwa Ibom and therefore urges his supporters and the peace-loving people of Akwa Ibom State to disregard such rally and go about their lawful duties,” the statement read.
Akpabio further alleged that the rally was orchestrated by “fifth columnists” attempting to use his name for ulterior motives. He urged law enforcement agencies to ensure the event does not hold, emphasizing that it lacked his endorsement.
