Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has acknowledged that his team is currently not ready to compete with Manchester City and Arsenal, who have dominated the Premier League in recent seasons.
Despite an impressive start to the campaign, with Chelsea sitting fourth ahead of this weekend’s matches, Maresca emphasized the importance of stability and continuity in building a competitive squad. Liverpool currently leads the table, while City and Arsenal are tied on 14 points.
Maresca stated, “I really don’t think we can compete with City and Arsenal. City has worked with the same manager for nine years, and Arsenal for five years. If you want to compete, you need that time.”
He further added, “It’s a huge difference. I am convinced we cannot compete. The target is to improve and to slowly get close. We are not in this moment ready for that. You can continue to improve, but at the end, the more time you are together, the better it is.”
As Chelsea aims to build on their promising start, Maresca’s comments reflect a realistic approach to their ambitions in the highly competitive Premier League.
