Nollywood actor Deyemi Okanlawon is set to make his Hollywood debut, joining the ranks of Nigerian actors breaking into the international film scene. In an inspiring video shared on his Instagram page, Deyemi offered fans a tour of his temporary home in Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles.
In the video, Deyemi expressed his excitement while reflecting on his journey to this moment. He remarked, “It would have been so much cooler to pretend being here isn’t such a big deal, but only if you know where I’m coming from and how rough the road has been will you understand how big this is for me and my family! God really dey!”
He showcased the stunning surroundings of Hollywood Hills, acknowledging the numerous celebrities residing nearby. Deyemi also credited his success to divine intervention and support from his Hollywood contacts, specifically mentioning his “Hollywood plug,” Sam Okhade.
Deyemi has come a long way in his career. He recalled starting his journey in the entertainment industry at the young age of 8 or 9, performing in a family commercial alongside veteran actress Sola Sobowale. His brother, Detola Okanlawon, also featured in that early project.
In March 2023, Deyemi received the Trailblazer Award at the 16th Silverbird Awards, recognizing his contributions to the industry. He expressed deep gratitude to Silverbird TV and his fans, emphasizing that the award was a long-awaited achievement.
Last year, Deyemi celebrated fulfilling a major career aspiration by being appointed as the Director of Planning/Strategy for the Actors Guild of Nigeria. His journey reflects not just personal success but also the growing influence of Nigerian talent on the global stage.
