Court Reduces Bail for #EndBadGovernance Protesters from N10m to N5m

-

A Federal High Court in Abuja has lowered the bail for five #EndBadGovernance protesters from N10 million to N5 million each after they struggled to meet the original conditions.

Previously, ten protesters were charged with attempting to overthrow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and each faced a N10 million bail. However, on Monday, Justice Emeka Nwite granted a reduction following a request from the protesters’ legal counsel, who argued they could not secure sureties with properties in Abuja.

The new bail terms now require each defendant to provide a close relative as a surety, such as a parent or another blood relative residing within the court’s jurisdiction. The protesters face charges of treason, conspiracy, and incitement to mutiny.
