ABUJA — Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communications, Daniel Bwala, has declared that the people of Borno South remain resolute in their support for President Tinubu and the Renewed Hope Agenda. This affirmation came during a high-profile award ceremony organised by the Borno South Stakeholders Forum in Abuja.
Bwala, alongside 16 other prominent sons and daughters of Borno South — including former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (retd) — was honoured for excellence in public and community service. The Forum praised Bwala’s “unique contributions to the unity, progress, and development of the region and Borno State in general.” He was recognised for his dedication to governance and advocacy for national development.
President Tinubu, who was represented at the event by Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, described Bwala as “like a son” and commended his unwavering loyalty to the administration. He noted that Bwala’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda is beyond question and applauded all awardees for setting standards of dedication and perseverance.
“Each award presented tonight is more than just a symbol of success. It is a testament to long hours of unwavering determination that pushed the recipients forward,” the President stated. He also urged organisers to honour the families and communities that have supported the honourees.
The award to Bwala was described as a “fitting recognition” of his brilliance and tireless effort to promote excellence and merit in national service. Convener of the event, Mallam Ishaya Malgwi, said Borno South was celebrating not only Bwala’s achievements but also the values he represents — hard work, dedication, and excellence.
Dignitaries present included the Secretary to the Government of Taraba State, Timothy Kataps, who represented Governor Agbu Kefas, and a representative of retired General Theophilus Danjuma.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the event, Bwala said he was humbled and excited by the recognition. He described the honour as a sign that the people of Borno South have confidence in the Tinubu administration’s direction and commitment to national transformation.
“I am confident that the people of Borno South are standing firm with President Bola Tinubu and his Renewed Hope Agenda, in an unwavering commitment to make a positive change in our dear country,” Bwala said.
Bwala, a lawyer and public affairs analyst, was appointed as Presidential Spokesman in November 2024. His home region, Southern Borno, is known for its rich cultural heritage and agricultural potential, comprising nine local government areas including Biu, Gwoza, Chibok, Askira/Uba, and Hawul.
Other award recipients included Hajiya Inna Maryam Ciroma, former Minister of Women Affairs; Chief Anjikwi Ciwar, former Registrar of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria; Muktar Aliyu Betara, member of the House of Representatives for Bayo, Biu, Kwaya Kusar, and Shani; Dr Midala Usman Balami, House of Representatives member for Askira/Uba and Hawul; Chief Asta Paul Thahal; Hon Asabe Vilita-Bashir, Director General of the Maryam Babangida Women Development Centre; and consultant and philanthropist Dr Lucy Surhyel Newman.
