Popular Nigerian crossdresser Okuneye Idris, widely known as Bobrisky, has reportedly been detained by the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) at the Seme Border while attempting to flee to Benin Republic. This incident comes amid ongoing investigations into his alleged involvement in money laundering and a prison scandal.
Background of the Investigation
Bobrisky has been under scrutiny following the emergence of a viral audio recording in which he boasted about avoiding imprisonment despite having received a sentence. In the same recording, he claimed to have resolved a money laundering case after allegedly spending ₦15 million. Activist and vlogger Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, brought this situation to light in a video shared on October 21, 2024.
Circumstances of the Arrest
Reports indicate that Bobrisky attempted to escape the ongoing investigations by the Nigerian House of Representatives. According to sources, he had reportedly sent someone ahead to sign his international passport and was hiding in a vehicle to evade detection.
VeryDarkMan, who recently appeared before the House of Representatives alongside his lawyer Deji Adeyanju, noted that Bobrisky failed to attend the session, citing health concerns. In his latest video, VeryDarkMan confirmed, “Bobrisky was arrested this morning at Seme Border Post on his way to escape to Benin Republic.” He suggested that the NIS is currently holding Bobrisky in custody.

The activist shared a video capturing the moment of Bobrisky’s arrest and captioned it: “Bobrisky has been arrested this morning while trying to enter BENIN REPUBLIC to escape the current investigation by the House of Reps… MAKE WE WAIT FOR BOB TO DEBUNK.”
