Tottenham Hotspur, under coach Ange Postecoglu, has joined Chelsea and Arsenal in the race to sign Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian striker who has been a standout performer in Serie A.
The 25-year-old Osimhen scored 15 goals and provided three assists in 22 league starts for Napoli last season. His impressive performance follows a stellar 2022/2023 campaign, where he won the Golden Boot and helped Napoli secure the Serie A title.
Although Osimhen had agreed on personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain, the move fell through due to PSG’s inability to meet his release clause. Chelsea and Arsenal have expressed interest in the striker, hoping for a potential reduction in Napoli’s asking price.
According to Football Insider, Spurs are particularly eager to add a new striker this season. Postecoglu is reportedly fixated on acquiring Osimhen and may consider including players in a potential deal to address Tottenham’s goalscoring issues.
Last season, Son Heung-Min was Spurs’ top scorer with 17 goals, highlighting the team’s need for a clinical forward following Harry Kane’s transfer to Bayern Munich.
