Amaechi Denies Regret Over Joining APC, Calls Recent Report False

-

Chijioke Amaechi, former governor of Rivers State, has strongly refuted claims that he regrets joining the All Progressives Congress (APC). The denial came in response to a media report suggesting Amaechi had expressed dissatisfaction with his association with the ruling party.

Amaechi dismissed the report as false, stating, “I did not say that rubbish.” He emphasized that he has never met the writer, Ibeh, nor discussed any dissatisfaction with APC leadership.

APC chieftain Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, speaking on behalf of Amaechi, condemned the fabricated report. Eze described the claims as misleading and aimed at misleading the public. He asserted that Amaechi, a key figure in the formation and expansion of APC, does not regret his political decisions or contributions, including his role in strengthening the party.

Eze criticized the anonymous nature of the report and suggested that it was a deliberate attempt to undermine Amaechi’s reputation. He added that the former governor’s silence on current political matters is a personal choice and should not be misinterpreted as regret.

Eze further clarified that Amaechi’s contributions, such as transforming Nigeria’s rail transport and supporting President Buhari, remain a point of pride. He urged those spreading false information to cease their efforts and respect Amaechi’s decision to remain silent on political matters.

The statement concluded with a call for respect towards Amaechi’s legacy and contributions, reinforcing that any insinuations of regret are baseless and misleading.
