The Nasarawa State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested two individuals for possessing illegal firearms, as confirmed by Nasarawa State Commander, Mr. Peter Onche-Odaudu, during a press conference in Lafia on Friday.
The arrest occurred when operatives from the Keffi Area Command of the agency conducted a motorized patrol on Keffi-Nasarawa Road on October 28, 2023, and stopped a commercial vehicle for routine stop and search. Two suspects, identified as Ibrahim Usman and Abdulrahman Sani, were apprehended while en route to Nasarawa-Toto. They were found to be in possession of a locally made pistol and one cartridge concealed in a black polythene bag.
Onche-Odaudu revealed that the suspects claimed they had received the firearm from an individual named Sani in Tashan Yaro, Katsina State, with the intention of delivering it to a certain Babangida in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. The suspects were informed that Babangida was to compensate them with the sum of N200,000 to be shared.
The suspects will be handed over to the police for further investigation and appropriate legal action.
