Netizens have responded to a viral video featuring Yoruba Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola addressing her recurring portrayal of violent characters in movies.
During a live video session, Wumi Toriola clarified that her on-screen persona sharply contrasts with her real-life character, emphasizing that she’s dedicated to portraying her roles to the best of her ability.
The mother of one, seemingly frustrated with an unnamed individual, mentioned that she has also played roles involving love and performed them effectively. However, she expressed concern that viewers often confuse her true personality with the characters she plays.
Despite her explanation, netizens remained skeptical. One individual, Barrister Dolapo, accused the actress of being toxic and noted her tendency to go live on Instagram whenever she has conflicts with someone, citing examples involving Toyin Abraham and Seyi Edun.
“You are a bitter soul… the fact that you always come on live video anytime you have issues with someone shows you are too toxic… you did it to Shai and Toyin. Any wise person in your industry won’t move close to you again.”
Previously, Wumi Toriola had criticized Nollywood producers for casting her in violent roles in movies. While promoting one of her films, she playfully lamented her recent string of violent roles and how it might affect her chances of finding love.
It’s worth noting that Wumi Toriola had also addressed rumors of an affair with Toyin Abraham’s husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi. She took to Instagram to deny these allegations, stating that they were false and malicious. She clarified that she had not been involved romantically with either Toyin Abraham’s former or current husband.
