The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has issued a 21-day ultimatum to land allottees to pay their statutory Right of Occupancy (R of O) fees and charges or risk losing their allocations. This directive, approved by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, is part of a broader land administration reform aimed at improving efficiency and transparency in land management.
The reforms, which take effect from April 21, 2025, require allottees to not only pay the necessary fees within the stipulated time but also to submit a completed letter of acceptance. Additionally, allottees will have a two-year window from the start of their R of O to commence development on the allocated land.
Failure to meet these requirements will result in the invalidation of any payments made and possible revocation of the land offer. The FCTA explained that these measures are designed to deter land speculation, boost revenue, and encourage prompt development in the Federal Capital Territory.
