During his presentation of the 2025 national budget to the National Assembly on Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu lightheartedly told lawmakers, “You’re all re-elected.”
The humorous remark followed a brief mix-up when he referred to the current Senate as the 11th instead of the 10th. Lawmakers quickly corrected him, prompting the President to laugh and respond, “10th? I wrote 11th, which means you’re all re-elected.”
Tinubu had initially stated, “In fulfilment of one of my constitutional duties and with an unyielding commitment to rebuilding Nigeria towards ensuring that we remain steadfast on a journey to a prosperous future, I hereby present the 2025 budget to the joint session of the 11th National Assembly.”
This lighthearted exchange occurred after some lawmakers had interrupted the session by singing President Tinubu’s anthem, “On Your Mandate We Shall Stand.”
