Nollywood star and box office king Femi Adebayo has made a remarkable pledge to his colleague, Odunlade Adekola, as he receives yet another prestigious award. At the recently concluded Odunlade Adekola Film Production Award (OAFP), held on October 31st in Abeokuta, Femi Adebayo expressed his admiration for Odunlade’s dedication to the industry.
While receiving his award, Femi announced that he would take on 50% of the cost for the OAFP event next year as a way to honor Odunlade’s contributions. He said, “With due respect, Biola, there is something we need to do to honor Odunlade Adekola for this. Every year that I come here, I feel motivated; I feel I should be fully part of this. I stand here before this honorable crowd that next year’s edition, I am going to fully take care of 50% of the cost of the event to support him.”
This award adds to the growing list of accolades Femi has won this year. Last week, he triumphed at the Best of Nollywood Awards, where he bagged four awards for his 2023 movie Jagun Jagun, including Best Actor, Best Use of Costume, Best Art Design, and Best Use of Effect.
Femi’s movie Jagun Jagun has also garnered seven nominations at the 2024 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), further solidifying his place in Nollywood’s elite circle. The film made a global impact after it was released on Netflix, amassing 2.1 million views and ranking among the Top 10 trending movies in 17 countries.
This year, Femi also received an award at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) for Best Indigenous Language for Jagun Jagun, which he dedicated to his creator, production team, family, and fans. He promised to continue delivering even bigger and better films in the future.
