The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted sunny and hazy weather conditions across Nigeria from Wednesday to Friday, November 29, 2024. The agency released its weather outlook on Tuesday in Abuja, highlighting region-specific forecasts.
For Wednesday, the northern region is expected to experience moderate dust haze with localized visibility of 1,000 meters or less. The North Central region will witness slight dust haze, while the southern region will see sunny skies and hazy conditions, with early morning mist and cloud patches. Thunderstorms and light rains are also expected in parts of Cross River, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom states during the afternoon and evening.
On Thursday, moderate dust haze is forecasted for the northern region, maintaining visibility of 1,000 meters or less. The North Central region will continue with moderate dust haze, while the southern region will experience sunny skies under a hazy atmosphere.
For Friday, both the northern and North Central regions are anticipated to have dust haze, while the southern region will see sunny skies interspersed with cloud patches.
NiMet advised the public to take precautions due to dust particles in the air, which could pose risks to individuals with respiratory conditions, including asthma. The agency urged strict adherence to safety advisories and recommended that airline operators obtain weather-specific reports for effective flight planning.
