Model and former bread seller, Olajumoke Orisaguna, popularly known as Olajumoke Onibread, has shared her painful experience of domestic abuse at the hands of her ex-husband, Sunday Orisaguna.
In an emotional interview with City FM, Olajumoke revealed that her ex-husband physically assaulted her, often after misunderstandings with his mother, and that these incidents affected her career and personal life. She recalled how her mother-in-law was hostile toward her, and her husband would always side with his family, beating her without hearing her side of the story.
“I would hide what was happening because I didn’t want my mother to hear,” she said, describing the violent encounters where her face and body would be swollen. Despite her family’s concerns, she felt trapped and unable to escape.
Her escape came in 2016 after another violent episode, when she decided to leave for Lagos, bringing her two children with her. She sought refuge at a bakery where she had previously worked, a move that marked the beginning of her independent life.
Olajumoke explained that after the separation, her ex-husband began spreading false rumors about her, which negatively impacted her career. Despite the challenges, she has persevered in building her life and career since her move to Lagos.
Olajumoke gained fame in 2016 after a serendipitous appearance in a photoshoot with British rapper Tinie Tempah, captured by photographer TY Bello.
