Nollywood actress and filmmaker Omoni Oboli was filled with pride and gratitude after receiving a certificate of recognition from the Mayor of Brampton, Canada. In a heartfelt Instagram video, Oboli shared the moment, explaining that the certificate was awarded in acknowledgment of her impactful work on her latest film, The Uprising.
The Mayor’s office in Brampton has been enthusiastic about the film, with many of its staff watching it in cinemas. The city is even planning to host a special grand screening of the film. Expressing her gratitude, Oboli thanked Mayor Patrick Brown for the warm reception and shared her excitement about partnering with Brampton.

Oboli’s year has been filled with successes. Recently, her movie grossed over N93 million in its opening week, claiming the title of the number-one Nollywood film for that weekend. She also celebrated receiving a brand-new car at her movie premiere, a gesture she described as a symbol of her growth and influence in the Nollywood industry.
In addition, Oboli reflected on her 2019 movie Last Year Single making waves on Netflix, remaining the top show in Nigeria on the platform despite its years-long release. This recognition and success have highlighted her significant impact on the entertainment industry.
