NFF Congratulates Moses Simon on Ligue 1 Milestone

-

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has extended its congratulations to Super Eagles and Nantes forward Moses Simon for reaching his 150th appearance in Ligue 1.

The 29-year-old forward achieved this milestone during a recent match against Angers, where he provided an assist for Johann Lepenant in the 1-1 draw, marking his 29th assist for the club. This achievement makes Simon the top contributor for Les Canaris, surpassing the record previously held by Emiliano Sala.

The NFF celebrated Simon’s accomplishment on its official Instagram page, stating, “Congratulations to our very own superstar Moses Simon on reaching 150 games in Ligue 1. Keep soaring, Super Eagle.”

Simon has spent his entire Ligue 1 career with Nantes, joining on loan from Spanish side Levante in 2019 before making a permanent move to the club. He played a key role in helping Nantes win the Coupe de France during the 2021-22 season.

The official Ligue 1 X (formerly Twitter) account also recognized Simon’s achievement, labeling him as “indispensable.” Throughout his Ligue 1 career, he has scored 27 goals and provided 29 assists, contributing significantly to Nantes’ current standing in fifth place after five matchdays.

With two goals and two assists so far this season, Simon is Nantes’ leading goal scorer domestically and was named the Player of the Month for August. He remains under contract with the club until 2026 and ranks fifth among Nigerian players with the most appearances in Ligue 1, trailing Victor Ikpeba (170), Taye Taiwo (191), Wilson Oruma (196), and John Utaka (239).
