In an interview with Kingsley Okonkwo’s YouTube channel, Pastor Olumide Emmanuel, the General Overseer of Calvary Bible Church, shared details about the dissolution of his first marriage. The pastor disclosed that his ex-wife, whom he did not name, subjected him to repeated abuse during their nine-year marriage.
According to Pastor Emmanuel, his ex-wife had been married twice before they met, and in her previous marriages, she faced challenges such as a lack of consummation in the first marriage and broken promises in the second. Despite being aware of her past struggles, he proceeded with the relationship and eventually got married.
The pastor emphasized that he noticed signs of insecurity and emotional damage in his ex-wife, but he believed he could help her heal. However, he revealed that the abuse continued even before they got married, and on the wedding day, his ex-wife walked out of the ceremony, creating challenges in their marriage for the next ten years.
Pastor Emmanuel highlighted various issues, including cultural differences and physical abuse, which contributed to the breakdown of the marriage. Despite attempting to resolve differences, he discovered that his ex-wife had left the house after almost a decade of marriage.
The pastor also shared that he sought guidance from prominent religious leaders, such as Dr. Daniel Olukoya and Pastor David Oyedepo, but the issues persisted. Eventually, Pastor Emmanuel initiated the divorce process, emphasizing the importance of learning from history and not ignoring early signs of potential challenges in relationships.
