Manchester United have finalized the signing of midfielder Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth an initial £42.2 million, with potential add-ons bringing the total to £50.7 million (€60 million).
Ugarte, a key target for United, is expected to arrive in the UK soon for a medical examination and to complete personal terms. Initially, PSG aimed to recoup the full £51.1 million (€60 million) they paid Sporting Lisbon for Ugarte last summer, but an agreement was eventually reached.
Sky Sports News reports that Ugarte was keen on joining Manchester United, focusing more on the move itself than on the specifics of personal terms. Discussions included the possibility of a long-term contract or a loan with an obligation to buy.
The departure of Facundo Pellistri and Hannibal Mejbri from United facilitated Ugarte’s arrival. Known for his strong tackling abilities, Ugarte did not feature in PSG’s recent Ligue 1 opener.
