Tinubu approves release of N120bn for TVET agenda

-

President Bola Tinubu has approved ₦120 billion to boost Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Nigeria, focusing on practical skills development for specific occupations and industries. This initiative aims to provide startup support for students’ entrepreneurial ventures and enhance the TVET system.

The program includes a vocational training approach with an 80/20 ratio in collaboration with partners like Bank of Industry and Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). Additionally, six months of free digital skills training will be provided to Nigerians to meet industry demands, covering areas like software development, cybersecurity, and cloud computing.

The initiative aims to address nearly 2 million job vacancies in the country, with the digital training program expected to launch on or before June 2025. President Tinubu has also approved ₦40 billion to commence work on the abandoned National Library Headquarters building project to support academic and research needs across the country.
