Dignitaries, guests, and hundreds of mourners have begun to arrive at the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Isiokpo, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, for the funeral service of the late former Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank Plc, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, his wife, Doreen, and son, Chizzy.
The state Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, led security personnel to the venue, ensuring a secure environment for the solemn occasion.
In attendance are members of the clergy, traditional rulers from Omoeke (Wigwe’s hometown), and monarchs from Isiokpo, demonstrating solidarity and support for the bereaved family.
Meanwhile, security has been significantly reinforced in Isiokpo and its environs to maintain order and safety during the funeral proceedings.
Family members and friends previously gathered for a Christian wake in honor of the deceased in the community on Friday.
Herbert Wigwe, his wife, son, and former Group Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, tragically lost their lives on February 9, 2024, in a helicopter crash near a border town between California and Nevada, United States.
