Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has officially signed the 2025 Appropriation Bill, amounting to ₦607 billion, into law. The signing ceremony took place at the Governor’s Lodge, Awka, on Monday.
Speaking at the event, Soludo expressed optimism about the budget’s potential to drive transformative change across the state in 2025. “With this signing, Anambra State will be ready to begin the journey of implementing the 2025 budget with effect from January 1, 2025,” he stated.
The State House of Assembly passed the budget last Thursday after extensive deliberations. The governor lauded the Speaker, Dr. Somtochukwu Udeze, and other assembly members for their dedication and timely passage of the budget.
Budget Breakdown
– Total Budget Size: ₦606.99 billion
– Capital Expenditure: ₦467.5 billion (77%)
– Recurrent Expenditure: ₦139.5 billion (23%)
– Deficit: ₦148.3 billion (to be financed through revenue growth or borrowing).
Tagged ‘Changing Gears 2.0’, the 2025 budget represents a 48% increase from the ₦410 billion budget of 2024. The significant emphasis on capital expenditure aligns with Soludo’s vision for infrastructural and economic development.
This ambitious fiscal plan is expected to kickstart critical projects and initiatives that will enhance Anambra’s socio-economic landscape.
