A total of 2,151,329 Mongolian citizens were eligible to vote in the upcoming presidential election, the country’s General Election Commission said on Tuesday.
Out of the 2,151, 329 citizens, 1,009,755 are residents of the country’s capital Ulan Bator, and 1,141,574 voters are residents of all 21 provinces of the country, the commission said in a statement.
Mongolia, with a population of around 3.3 million, is preparing to hold its next presidential election on Wednesday.
Three candidates, namely Ukhnaa Khurelsukh, chairman of the ruling Mongolian People’s Party; Sodnomzundui Erdene, former chairman of the opposition Democratic Party; and Dangaasuren Enkhbat, a former legislator, are running for the president.
Enkhbat is the candidate from the political alliance the Right Person Electorate Coalition.
Political parties or coalitions that have at least one seat in the parliament are eligible to nominate their candidates for the presidential election. (Xinhua/NAN)
