Nurses employed by the Ogun State Government have expressed their gratitude to Governor Dapo Abiodun for the payment of the new minimum wage and the implementation of the 25 percent Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) adjustment.
Mr. Abiodun Olakanmi, Director of Nursing Services at the Ogun State Hospitals Management Board, commended the governor during the 2024 End of the Year Party and Interactive Session. The event, organized by the Abeokuta Health Zone’s Nursing Department Continuing Education and Social Welfare Unit, took place at the College of Nursing Hall, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta on Tuesday.
Olakanmi acknowledged the positive impact of the salary adjustments, noting that they have significantly improved nurses’ pay and narrowed the wage gap between Ogun State nurses and their federal counterparts.
He stated, “Our nurses’ salary has appreciated with the payment of the new minimum wage and CONHESS adjustment, bridging the wide gap between their salaries and that of nurses at the federal level.”
The Ogun State Chairman of the National Association of Nurses and Midwives, Mrs. Adejoke Bello, also extended her gratitude to members for their commitment to professionalism. She urged nurses to prioritize self-care, as caregiving can often become overwhelming.
Similarly, Mrs. Oluremi Mosuro, Deputy Director of the Department of Nursing Services, praised Governor Abiodun for his attention to the welfare of nurses. She encouraged nurses to remain dedicated to their service, emphasizing that “to whom much is given, much is expected.”
The nurses’ commendations highlight the positive effects of the governor’s policies on the healthcare sector, as they pledge to maintain improved service delivery.
