During a visit from Niger State’s Commissioners and Special Advisers in Abeokuta, Obasanjo compared Bago’s efforts to his 1976 “Operation Feed the Nation” program, emphasizing that food sufficiency is vital for peace and stability.
Obasanjo urged other governors to adopt similar agricultural initiatives, stressing the need for modern techniques like soilless farming to prevent future land shortages. He expressed his intent to visit Niger State to learn from their progress and continue advancing his own agricultural projects.
