Lisha Dachor, a 19-year-old nail painter from Plateau State, Nigeria, has successfully completed her attempt to establish a new Guinness World Record for the longest nail painting marathon by an individual.
During the event, known as a “nail-a-thon,” Dachor reportedly painted over 4,000 artificial nails within a span of 72 hours.
Taking to her Facebook page on Thursday, she expressed gratitude for achieving a new milestone in the world of nail art and highlighted the incredible support she received throughout the journey.
Dachor announced her ambitious challenge on April 25, with plans to undertake the feat from April 28 to May 1 at Odilin’s Event Centre, located behind the National Library in Jos, the capital of Plateau State. She also provided free transportation to and from the venue for attendees.
In an interview with the BBC, Dachor shared her motivation behind the record attempt, aiming to showcase the positive aspects of Plateau State and challenge stereotypes, particularly regarding teen mothers like herself.
Awaiting the review of her attempt by the Guinness World Records, Dachor will submit evidence documenting her marathon nail-painting session for official recognition.
The conclusion of the “nail-a-thon” garnered widespread celebration and commendation, including from Plateau State Governor, Caleb Muftwang, who praised Dachor’s determination and record-breaking spirit.
This achievement follows other recent Nigerian Guinness World Record feats, such as Tunde Onakoya’s longest marathon chess game and Clara Kronborg’s longest interview record, underscoring the country’s diverse talent and resilience.
