Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, reaffirmed the military’s commitment to combating banditry and terrorism in Nigeria. Speaking on Tuesday in Oziokutu, Kogi State, during the commissioning of the Chief of Army Staff Special Intervention Civil-Military Cooperation Project at the Model Primary Healthcare Centre, Lagbaja emphasized the army’s relentless pursuit of security in the nation.
Represented by Major General O.G. Onubogu, the General Officer Commanding the Two Division of the Nigerian Army, Lagbaja stated, “We are on the lookout for bandits and terrorists who threaten the peace of Kogi State.” He pledged to eradicate these threats while also supporting community development to ensure a peaceful environment.
Lagbaja urged Nigerians to unite in the fight against common adversaries, emphasizing the importance of public support in overcoming security challenges. He expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his strategic guidance and support for the Nigerian Army.
“Under my leadership as Chief of Army Staff, the Nigerian Army will continue to engage in both kinetic and non-kinetic operations in collaboration with other security agencies,” he affirmed.
Regarding the newly commissioned Model Primary Healthcare Centre, Lagbaja highlighted its role in strengthening the relationship between the army and the civilian population. He noted, “This initiative aims to facilitate interaction between the Nigerian Army and the communities we serve, ensuring we receive their support as we fulfill our constitutional responsibilities, especially in Kogi State.”
