The Minister for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has expressed support for Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu, to potentially succeed Babajide Sanwo-Olu as Lagos State governor in 2027.
Speaking on the Mic On podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, Olawande emphasized Seyi Tinubu’s qualifications and dedication to youth empowerment, which predate his father’s presidency.
“He’s not too young to become a governor,” the minister stated, adding that Seyi is not actively orchestrating campaigns for the position.
Several groups, including the Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL), have endorsed Seyi Tinubu as a candidate for the governorship, citing his leadership abilities and contributions to youth development.
In a related development, the Lagos State House of Assembly recently impeached Mudashiru Obasa as Speaker. Reports suggest Obasa’s removal may be connected to his alleged ambitions to contest the governorship in 2027.
