The Defense Headquarters (DHQ) has reported significant gains in recent military operations, including the elimination of 108 terrorists and the rescue of 214 hostages.
According to a statement from the DHQ, troops engaged in various operations across the country have achieved notable success. In the North East, Operation Hadin Kai forces neutralized 47 terrorists, apprehended 18 suspects, and rescued 130 hostages from kidnappers. Additionally, 622 terrorists, including 90 adult males, 182 adult females, and 350 children, surrendered to the troops during the week.
In a recent airstrike on August 2, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai targeted a newly discovered Boko Haram/ISWAP hideout and IED factory in the Mandara Mountains, resulting in the destruction of the factory and the elimination of several terrorists.
In the North Central region, Operations Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke led to the deaths of 13 insurgents, the arrest of 57 extremists, and the rescue of 36 kidnapped hostages.
The North West saw Operation Hadarin Daji neutralize 15 terrorists, arrest 22 suspects, and rescue 27 hostages. The air component also successfully targeted and destroyed key terrorist structures in Katsina State.
Operation Whirl Punch in Kaduna, Niger, and Kogi States resulted in the death of eight terrorists, the arrest of 22 suspects, and the rescue of 12 hostages.
In the South-South, Operation Delta Safe recovered substantial amounts of stolen and illegal oil products and dismantled numerous illegal refining sites. The operation also led to the arrest of 32 suspects and the rescue of five hostages.
Lastly, in the South East, Operation UDO KA resulted in the neutralization of five terrorists, the arrest of 12 extremists, and the rescue of four hostages.
All recovered items, arrested suspects, and rescued hostages have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action.
