- Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has asserted that the recent security challenges in the region transcend traditional farmer-herder conflicts, characterizing them as orchestrated criminal activities by conflict entrepreneurs.
On April 2, gunmen attacked the communities of Manguno, Daffo, and Josho in the Bokkos Local Government Area, resulting in multiple fatalities and the destruction of homes and properties valued in the millions. Governor Mutfwang emphasized that these incidents are part of a broader pattern of organized criminality. He reassured the public that both the government and security agencies are implementing measures to prevent future occurrences.
This perspective aligns with the governor’s earlier statements, where he noted that the portrayal of conflicts between herders and indigenous communities is sometimes exaggerated, and that the issues are more complex than commonly perceived.
