Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has presented cheques totaling N48,681,738.48 to the families of 22 deceased officers in Kogi State. These officers died in active service or were injured in accidents while performing official duties.
The presentation was made by Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Bethrand Onuoha, on behalf of the IGP. According to a statement from Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Ovye Aya, the gesture is part of the welfare initiative to support the families of fallen officers and assist those injured during service.
The CP expressed condolences on behalf of the IGP, acknowledging the sacrifices made by the officers. He also reiterated the IGP’s commitment to improving the welfare of serving, retired, and deceased officers. The accident victims were encouraged to prioritize their recovery, while families of the deceased were advised to use the funds to enhance their living conditions.
