Former Chelsea defender Glen Johnson has advised forward Christopher Nkunku to stay at Stamford Bridge, labeling a potential transfer to Manchester United as “madness.” Amid reports linking Nkunku to United, Johnson believes the 26-year-old should remain with Chelsea and focus on fully recovering his fitness to make a stronger impact.
Nkunku, who joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig in 2023, faced injury setbacks last season, managing only 11 Premier League appearances. Despite his limited time on the field, he has been a standout this season, contributing 10 goals in 16 games under manager Enzo Maresca. However, he’s had to compete for playing time with Chelsea’s other forwards, including Nicolas Jackson, Noni Madueke, and Cole Palmer.
Johnson shared his thoughts in an interview with Betfred, saying, “Chelsea is heading in the right direction, and he would be mad to jump ship now. If he can get fit and secure a starting role, Chelsea has a valuable player on their hands.”
