Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has announced his victory in a lengthy six-year legal battle with the Nigerian government. Melaye revealed that he had been acquitted of 12 charges brought against him by the government.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Melaye expressed his relief, stating: “Justice served after 6 years. Justice delayed is never justice denied. God alone be praised. Sen Dino Melaye 12 – Federal Government and IGP 0.” He also extended his gratitude to his legal team, led by Prof. Mike Ozekhome and Ricky Tafa.
The court case stemmed from accusations that Melaye provided false information regarding an alleged assassination attempt on his life in 2017. Justice Sylvanus Oriji of the Federal Capital High Court in Maitama recently cleared Melaye of the remaining charges, closing the chapter on a prolonged legal ordeal that began in 2018.
