Samuel Chukwueze has claimed his second trophy with AC Milan, playing a crucial role in their 3-1 win over Monza to secure the Silvio Berlusconi Trophy. The match, held at the San Siro, saw Milan end their preseason on a high note.
Chukwueze started the game on the bench but was brought on at halftime to replace Belgian winger Alexis Saelemaekers with the score tied 1-1. Monza had equalized after Milan initially took the lead, creating a tense first half.
Milan’s first-half goal came from a deflected rabona by Saelemaekers, but Daniel Maldini equalized for Monza before the break. The second half saw Milan’s substitutes make a significant impact. Luka Jovic scored shortly after his introduction, and Tijjani Reijnders sealed the win with a spectacular long-range goal.
Chukwueze made an immediate impact upon entering the field, using his creativity and speed to trouble the Monza defense. He played a key role in Milan’s attacking efforts and set up a prime chance for Noah Okafor, who was denied by a superb save.
The Milan lineup, managed by Paulo Fonseca, featured both seasoned stars like Rafael Leao and newcomers such as Alvaro Morata. However, it was the contributions of Chukwueze and other substitutes that ultimately tipped the balance in Milan’s favor.
This win marks Chukwueze’s second Silvio Berlusconi Trophy with Milan, following their penalty shootout victory over Monza in the previous season’s edition.
