The political turmoil within the Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified as the Austin Agada-led state executive committee successfully nominated candidates for the upcoming local government elections scheduled for October 5. The nominations include 23 chairmanship and 276 councillorship candidates.
According to a statement from the media office of the APC state chairman released in Abuja, the primary elections were conducted primarily through consensus and affirmations across most local governments and council wards. The process took place at ward headquarters across all 23 local government areas last Saturday.
Samuel Atsuku, who participated in the primary election in Tarka Local Government Area, praised the commitment of party stakeholders in his area. He expressed gratitude towards the party faithful for their peaceful conduct and congratulated the chairmanship candidate for Tarka Local Government, Koryave Isaac Aondaver, and all elected councillors.
In Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, Simon Aluor highlighted the orderly and peaceful nature of the primaries, thanking party members for their trust in the party’s process.
In Gboko, the primaries concluded smoothly with Basil Yina emerging as the party’s candidate for the local government election. Otukpo saw a similar outcome, with party members voting in affirmation of their preferred chairmanship aspirant, Oleho Augustine, demonstrating strong support for his candidacy.
Lazarus Asema, APC chairman in Guma Local Government, described the process as peaceful and praised the state leadership for their effective organization.
Abua Yaji and Fidelis Audu, in separate media interactions, voiced their satisfaction with the primary elections and commended local government stakeholders for their successful execution of the process.
