Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Chairman of the North Central APC Forum, has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, demanding his resignation. Zazzaga stated that Ganduje’s appointment violated the APC Constitution and the party’s zoning arrangement, which allocated the chairmanship to the North Central zone, specifically Nasarawa State, not the North West where Ganduje hails from.
In a statement made in Jos, Zazzaga explained that the violation of Article 31.5 (i) and (iv) of the APC Constitution (2022, as amended) has caused division within the party, particularly in the North Central region. He emphasized that Ganduje’s controversial appointment undermined internal democracy and could damage the party’s electoral prospects.
Zazzaga warned that if Ganduje fails to step down within the seven-day period, he would pursue legal action to enforce the zoning arrangement. He also highlighted that Ganduje is currently facing a corruption trial in the Kano State High Court.
In his letter, Zazzaga copied President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, the APC National Working Committee, and the National Advisory Council, urging them to support the call for Ganduje’s resignation to restore unity within the party.
