A joint security operation by the Nigeria Police Force, Armed Forces, Department of State Security (DSS), and Nigeria Civil Defense Corps has led to the dismantling of criminal hideouts in the Ezioha and Eziama Autonomous Communities in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State.
The operation resulted in the death of four criminal suspects, the arrest of five others, and the recovery of several firearms, explosives, and other criminal items. The security forces were able to target criminal networks responsible for violence and kidnappings in the region under the ongoing security effort called “Operation Udoka.”
According to the State Police Command’s spokesperson, ASP Henry Okoye, the operation was carried out after a protracted gunfight with the suspects, and the security agencies succeeded in dismantling their hideouts. Key items recovered included eight motorcycles, dangerous weapons, explosive devices, and communication equipment linked to the suspects.
The operation was coordinated by key security officials, including the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, Brigadier General U.A. Lawal (Commander of the 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze), Air Commodore David Bello (Commander NAF 211 Quick Response Group, Owerri), and other notable figures from the DSS, NSCDC, and Navy. They commended the professionalism of the joint forces and emphasized the need for public cooperation in providing intelligence to combat crime.
The security agencies reassured residents that they were working together to ensure the safety of Imo State, especially during the upcoming holiday season. The Police Commissioner called on citizens to partner with law enforcement to maintain peace and security.
