Olubunmi Fabode, the first daughter of Pastor Tunde Bakare, Serving Overseer of Citadel Global Community, has opened up about the struggles her parents faced in their marriage, which she describes as a “battleground” for generational curses.
Fabode shared that her prayers played a key role in preventing her parents from divorcing, revealing that she had to intervene during a difficult period in their relationship. Speaking at her parents’ 40th wedding anniversary celebration in Lagos, Fabode recalled a pivotal moment when her father informed her that he and her mother were considering separation.
At just seven years old, Fabode was faced with the possibility of her parents splitting, but her concern was not just for their union. She feared that such a separation might cause division among her siblings, whom she deeply loved. She explained, “I absolutely love my siblings. They are the joy of my life. I knew something had to happen to prevent that plan from unfolding.”
Fabode also reflected on the turbulent nature of her parents’ marriage, describing it as a place where generational curses were confronted and overcome. Having been raised by a British foster parent, her grandmother, and later by her father and stepmother, Fabode’s resilience and commitment to her family were key in seeing her parents’ marriage through its challenges.
