Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has assured that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will deliver decisive victories over the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2026 Osun State and 2027 Oyo State elections.
Makinde, speaking during the inauguration of a road project in Osogbo on Wednesday, dismissed APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje’s claim that his party would capture the South-West, describing it as unrealistic.
The governor praised his Osun counterpart, Ademola Adeleke, for his development strides, including the completion of projects inherited from previous administrations. He emphasized that prioritizing the public good was critical, contrasting the PDP’s focus on pro-people policies with what he termed APC’s “mediocre politics.”
Makinde called on the electorate to continue supporting PDP leadership, noting that both he and Adeleke are committed to delivering progressive governance in the South-West.
“Stick with Imole [Adeleke’s administration], it is working and will continue to work,” Makinde said, urging residents to resist any attempt to return to APC-led governance.
The Oyo governor also criticized Nigeria’s current federal structure, advocating reforms to achieve true federalism and tackle the country’s economic challenges.
Governor Adeleke, who also spoke at the event, reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to completing inherited projects and improving infrastructure. He urged residents to adhere to road safety regulations on newly completed routes, citing an increase in accidents.
The event underscored the strong partnership between the Oyo and Osun governors, both of whom highlighted their shared vision of governance focused on the people’s welfare.
